Holly (Hilary Swank) receives the first message from Gerry after his death: a tape instructing her to give up her grief to celebrate her birthday.

While Yvette (Belinda Reid) suffers the abuses of her common-law husband, Pluto (Junior Williams), their daughter Sashauna (Camille Bartley) scorns her mother's complacency, vows vengeance on her father and enters into a relationship with a man (Dennis Hall) from a very different background. Stories of love and betrayal intertwine with a Jamaican twist in writer-director Paul O. Beale's romantic drama.
